If it sounds like a scam, the call can end.
When a caller starts sounding like a bank fraud desk, asking for Interac, remote access, or gift cards, GuardianCircle can hang up. You see a live caption and a clear note: what kind of scam, and what to do next. Same idea for the “your brother was in an accident” call, including cloned voices.

Large type and simple words. Grant permissions once. After that it watches in the background.

You sign in as the caregiver
Use your own email, not theirs. They open Settings, tap Add a caregiver, and read you a 6-digit code. That link stays on your account. Signing out does not make you type every code again.

If something looks like a scam, you see what it is and what to do next. You decide together. The Calls tab on their phone keeps screened calls easy to find.

Phone calls and voicemail
Suspicious callers can be screened while they talk. A high-confidence scam can be hung up. People in the contact list are left alone. Missed calls can leave a short voicemail that we write down and check.
Texts (SMS)
Unknown numbers are checked automatically. Texts from people already saved in Contacts stay on the phone. We do not send those to the cloud.
WhatsApp, Telegram, and more
We only see the short preview Android already shows. Not the full chat. Unknown senders by default. You can change that per app.
Email previews
Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo: the subject and snippet from the notification. Not the whole inbox. Catches thin Yahoo previews and fake Apple or iCloud “account closing” mail.
Share a video or post
From YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook, tap Share, then GuardianCircle. YouTube can check the public video. TikTok uses the public caption. Instagram and Facebook check the wording you share or type, not the full post.
Privacy
We don't need the whole address book.
Contact names stay on the phone. Family texts stay on the phone. Messaging and email use the same short previews Android already shows. Checking runs in Montréal. Account history sits in Toronto. We do not train public AI models on your data.

Common questions
Questions about Guardian Circle
Straight answers for a normal Canadian, not a privacy lawyer. The full policy is still one tap away.
- Are my contacts stored on your server?
- Names, photos, and notes stay on the phone. If call protection is set to skip people they know, we may keep a list of phone numbers so family calls are not treated like strangers. Everyday texts from saved contacts are not uploaded.
- How do you know someone is not in their contacts?
- The app asks Android for Contacts permission and checks the phone’s own list. If the number or name is saved, we treat them as known. If not, we run the scam check. There is no secret internet friend database.
- Is there a big spam-number list you look up?
- No. We do not buy a national spam phone book. Protection uses the phone or carrier’s spam flags, numbers already caught on this account, and (when call protection is on) listening for classic scam talk.
- Do you record voicemail from people they know?
- The focus is unknown callers. Strangers’ voicemails can be written down and checked. People in Contacts skip the scam AI. A voicemail is about two minutes at most.
- Is the call recording kept? How long do transcripts stay?
- Live call audio is checked in the moment. We do not keep a permanent recording of the conversation on our servers. The written transcript and the “was this a scam?” result stay in History in Canada until the account is deleted. Technical call-quality notes last about 30 days.
- What does a caregiver see?
- Only after they are linked with a code. By default they see that something looked like a scam, not the full message. The senior can turn on full-message sharing for a specific caregiver.
- Can a retirement home or home-care agency use this?
- Yes. A director signs in at guardiancircle.ca/org, invites staff, and adds each resident with the 6-digit code from that person’s phone. Every staff member then sees the same alerts in Activity and in the caregiver app. Organization billing is not wired yet.
